G4S Secure Solutions (SA), a leading global integrated security solutions company, has a vacancy for a Shift Manager based in Cape Town .
Reporting to Contract Manager and Ops Manager, the Shift Manager coordinates the provision of contractual ad hoc security services to customers, in compliance with NKP, Aviation, Health and Safety legislation, company policies and procedures, to ensure achievement of operational and financial requirements.
The position requires at least 2-3 years aviation experience within a security operational management environment. AVSEC, NKP and fire-arm competency experience will be essential. The successful incumbent is a self starter with a proven track record in maintaining aviation compliance, company policy, adopting best practices, and is able to exercise sound judgement in the pursuit of the achievement of the goals of the organisation, and understanding the role which operations plays within a successful business unit. The incumbent will be expected to be results driven and to live the values of the organisation.
Role Responsibility:
Effective co-ordination of operations in compliance with legislation and G4S policy.
Management of absenteeism and deployment of personnel to cover posts in compliance with ACSA posting sheet, WAG 1 documentation, CAA and customer permit requirements.
Ensuring pro-active incident handling and reporting (also emergency protocol) in compliance with health and safety requirements.
Allocation and distribution of rosters ensuring supervision and daily inspectionin line with aviation requirements.
Conduct and schedule on on-site training and induction for current and new employees in terms of aviation requirements:
-Airside induction
-Dangerous Goods (DGR)
-NKP & Fire-arm
-Aviation Vehicle Operators Permit (AVOP)
-Aviation Security (AVSEC)
Conduct site visit and inspections in terms of Aviation compliance, NKP site, fire-arm and permit requirements, focusing on the application of site instructions, customer instructions and G4S Policy.
Co-ordinate and control the allocation and inspection of deployment vehicles following the required aviation operating permit clearance and driver competency requirements.
Effective management of the financial performance of the contract
Ensure effective cost control and inspections occurs in respect of all site assets and communication tools, including vehicles, equipment, uniform, safety equipment, reflector jackets, fuel, cellphones, and expenses.
Maintenance of required standards of employee performance and behaviour on the Aviation contract
Ensuring that performance assessments of all subordinate employees are conducted, and corrective action implemented in line with customer key performance areas and exception penalties where necessary.
Ensuring that acceptable standards of behaviour at work are maintained by all subordinate employees, as required by G4S’s code of conduct and disciplinary code.
Ensuring that all disciplinary actions and incapacity procedures with customer permit revocation rulings are conducted in compliance with Aviation requirements, Company policies and procedures.
Administration and assistance with employee pay queries.
Ensure the implementation of client instructions where necessary and requested to improve security standards.
The Ideal Candidate:
Minimum qualification / certifications
Minimum Matric and / or Grade 12 equivalent
Driver’s Licence code 8 with a minimum of 2 years driving experience
PSIRA Grade A certification
Registered Security Service Provider
Minimum 2 years’ experience in security management
NKP certifications
Fire-arm competency
First Aid Level 1
Health and Safety certification
Training Accreditations and associated competencies:
Aviation Security certification, medical clearance, airside induction, airside vehicle operators permit, dangerous goods regulation, NKP, fire-arm competency, health and safety representative and first aider certification to be completed with regular refresher training interventions.We welcome applications from all suitably qualified candidates, but SA citizens or those with a valid SA work permit, will have a distinct advantage.
