Chevron is accepting online applications for the position of Area Security Advisor – East Coast located in Durban, South Africa through February 12, 2015 at 11:59 p.m. (Eastern Standard Time).
Position Details: Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:


Integrated Security Risk Management:
- Handle implementation of a Security Risk Management Strategy and activities, on a cross functional basis within area of responsibility (East Coast) for company businesses operating in this area, in line with corporate policies and directions from the Security Manager
- Identifies and develops best practices in terms of security risk management practices and procedures to be implemented
- Drives implementation of appropriate and effective security risk management initiatives and processes across the area


Risk Identification/ Threat and Vulnerability Assessment:
- Leads in identification of areas with most significant security risk to personnel, assets and business operations to Management in your area/East Coast
- Provides leadership and take part in risk assessments for security planning purposes within the area of your responsibility


Security Awareness Programs:
- In line with the Operational Excellence (OE) expectations, enhances the level of security awareness and organizational capability on security matters throughout the area
- Develops and delivers security awareness programs for all Company personnel in accordance with Chevron South Africa and Global Security expectation
- Provides security training to business management and personnel in respect of Chevron South Africa security practices, information security and other general security practices aimed at reducing/mitigating security related threats


Reviews/Audits:
- Conducts Security Reviews of facilities and operations within your area in line with Chevron SA Security strategy
- Takes part in OE Reviews and provides guidance and training on OE procedures, security best practices and processes relevant to business within the area


Personnel Security:
- Implements corporate standards relating to Personnel Security inclusive of (Executive Protection, Expatriate Security, General Personnel Security, and Visitor Security) within the area
- Assists in the development and implementation of personal security plans for all Chevron staff and expatriates within the area
- Continuously reviews effectiveness of security protection protocols and advises on areas requiring improvements, shares observations with Security Information Management & Support for update into Chevron South Africa security awareness brochures
- Keeps close liaison with CBRES and determine personnel security requirements on facilities managed by CBRES, assess and provide inputs


Crisis Management:
- Plays an integral part in crisis management planning and emergency response in your area
- Support the BU’s in the development of crisis management and contingency plans to deal with civil and political unrest, kidnap, highjack, extortion, evacuations and other serious criminal acts
- Participates in developing and executing facility Evacuation Plans and Emergency Training within the area


Investigation:
- Conducts and manage all investigations as identified in the Manual of Compliance Procedure and Guidelines (MCPG) and other instances as and when required and directed by the Security Manager
- Ensures all reported cases/incidents are fully investigated as per Chevron South Africa Security Investigations Protocol
- Provides written reports in accordance to establish procedures and protocols, submit progress reports timely for perusal by the Security Manager


Management of Security Service Providers:
- Develops and implement metrics and review processes to evaluate the performance of Security Service Providers in the area
- Develops work scope and an effective contractor management program for all security service providers in the area


Compliance:
- Plays a proactive role in enhancing compliance with company policies and procedures across all Business Units
- Provides advice and guidance to in respect of Compliance procedures and actions to address compliance issues to business units within area of responsibility
- Maintains a detailed record of engagement with BU’s regarding compliance issues and investigations
- Provides specialist guidance on security incident reporting policies and procedures to all business units operating in the area
- Ensures an evergreen process in terms of training and re-training of all new and existing personnel regarding security incident reporting
- Develop and maintain a reporting structure and database of compliance, fraud, and security related issues within your area to meet local, regional, and corporate reporting requirements
- Responds to incident notifications and manage the internal upward reporting of relevant security incidents in line with Chevron South Africa Security Incident Reporting protocol


Networking/Collaboration:
- Establishes and maintains contact networks with law enforcement and other government / diplomatic security officials at senior level to facilitate related support and / or assistance as and when required:
- Participates in Joint Industry Security Committees and contribute towards the development of industry-wide solutions to current security challenges
- Networks and participates in industry security forum as a forum member
- Develops effective network with professional security associations and members of the private security industry

Required Qualifications:
At least National Diploma/Degree qualification in Security Management
At least 5 years experience as a security professional:
- Able to manage security of personnel and assets in a diverse and complex environment with multitude of risk posed against the company, its personnel and assets. This risk varies from crime, political disputes, violent labor and civil protests, and socio economic disputes. Operating environment, culture, language and political climate vary
- Able to assess and seek initiatives, develop and deploy measures/plans to establish a secure and safe environment for Chevron South Africa to conduct its business
- Able to conduct interviews with persons who speak different languages, understand cultural differences and be able to achieve the set targets
- Demonstrates composure to de-fuse situations that may escalate to violence threatening personnel and assets of the company.
- Able to constantly assess business security risks as there will be strong reliance on the incumbent to assist in preventing situations of risk to the company’s personnel and assets within area of responsibility

Code 08 Driver’s license, willing to travel and has his/her own vehicle

Willing to work long hours
Computer literate (MS Office applications such as Word, Excel, and Powerpoint)

Preferred Qualifications:
Police or military background
Previous experience in the oil and gas industry
