To Manage and Co-ordinate security matters including the control and minimizing of assets losses throughout the region by implementing the SGS security requirements as outlined by the SGS Security Manual and other related documents in the Africa region. Conduct security risk and loss prevention assessments and analyze and report on regional security matters.

. RESPONISIBILITIES

 Implement, manage and support security management strategies.
 Provide advice, support, guidance on security risks across all business lines in the region.
 Continuously assess risks and conduct security risk assessments and make recommendations aimed at protecting assets and personnel.
 Develop and deliver security awareness programs.
 Manage high level investigations around matters of fraud, theft, ethical issues, conflict of interest and internal control breakdowns.
 Report to management on investigations.
 Liaise and manage a security provider to meet and to support:
• Company’s business requirements
• The continuous changing security environment
• Set goals, targets and objectives for the measurement of security performance
• Create and maintain a database to report incidents and losses
 Liaise with other key functions such as Operational Integrity, Maintenance, Systems, Auditing, Legal, HR and IT.
 Champion companies Code of Conduct and other Group ethics policies.
 Develop, maintain and expand external security contacts.
 Build relationships with private security contingencies and local law enforcement agencies.
 Manage and affect special assignments and projects as required.
 Negotiate / manage the contract for the provision of security services.
 Manage the security services budget.
 Conduct security surveys and other assessments of security effectiveness.
 Provide advanced planning and protective measures for VIP visits as required.
 Adhere to all Operational Integrity requirements of the SGS management system.
 Implement all requirements as required by Corporate Security.
 Perform any other reasonable task as assigned by direct line manager.
 To ensure that all security measures in the region are maintained.
 Investigate all theft, fraud-related incidents, and unknown asset losses.
 Interviewing of witnesses, staff to establish any involvement in cases or incidents.
 Investigate burglaries, robberies, transit robberies.
 Providing loss control reports to line management, insurance people.
 Ensure that all sites are in compliance with all fire and emergency preparedness legally and as required by local by-laws.

. SPECIFIC AUTHORITIES
 Operate independently on a daily basis.
 Communicate with clients, service providers, colleagues and management on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.
 Initiate a formal improvement request when a deviation of the system occurs, possible improvements are identified or when nonconformity is identified.
 Liaise with local authorities regarding security, fire and emergency preparedness.
 Help business lines with the compilation of business continuity plans.
 Cease the use of any equipment that may be deemed to constitute a safety hazard or entry to hazardous environments without the necessary knowledge and protection, and take action to address the hazard.
 Cease to carry on with work that may affect the quality (integrity) of services and take action to address the issue.

QUALIFICATIONS

5.1 Education
 Tertiary qualification in security risk management.

5.2 Experience
 4 Years working experience and exposure to criminal and civil law (Security Company or Police Force).
 10 Years working experience in a supervisory / management capacity.

5.3 Competencies
 Solid Management/Senior Supervisory experience.
 Strong communication and interpersonal skills to develop internal and external relationships.
 Good understanding of Operational Integrity and Security and the SGS Code of Ethic.
