Educational Requirements:
Matric
A National/General Certificate or Diploma/Degree in the field of security is
required as minimum qualification
A certificate in Quality Assurance/Quality Control in order to conduct audits, in
an advantage
Candidate must be registered with PSIRA as a security officer, with a minimum Grade B
Experience Requirements:
3 Years’ experience in a similar role
Law enforcement, investigation and general aviation security experience is a requirement
Knowledge of SACAA CATS, Reg. P108, P109 and P110 is a requirement
Must have general administrative abilities
Advanced computer skills, Microsoft Office
Ability to work under pressure
Good communication, organisational and interpersonal relation skills are essential
A pro-active approach is essential
Leadership abilities
Will attend training as and when required to do so
Multi task on various projects
Must have own transport
Responsibilities:
Formulating Africa Flight Services Security Policy, within the framework of the CARS
Regulation P108
Developing, disseminating, implementing and enforcing security standards and practices as set out in the security programme, at all levels and in all areas of the organisation
Evaluate relevant information relating to accidents and incidents within the company and promulgate related information to affected personnel
Ensure applicable training of all personnel at all stations is Outstations according to SACAA and IATA requirements
The Aviation Security Specialist (AVSEC) shall be the accountable person for registering and executing those AVSEC Projects that are required by Statute, IATA, ICAO and operations that will lead to increased Aviation Security
The employee shall be accountable for ensuring operations are conducted in accordance with applicable regulations and standards
Will work closely with the OHS Officer for matters which are relevant to the areas of responsibility
Accountable for Aviation Security in his area of responsibility and accountability
Responsible for the management of the 3rd party security service provider in respect of SOP(s) in place
Disseminate non-sensitive aviation security literature throughout the operation, as necessary
Executing special security measures during all periods of increased threat
In conjunction with management personnel, conduct risk assessments on facilities
Establishing effective communication with the Regulatory Authorities in order to ensure timely notification of possible increased threat levels and instituting special security measures in such cases
Be responsible for liaison with Government Departments, Regulatory Authorities and other operationally relevant external entities.
Collect, analyse and disseminate Aviation Security information and provide effective feedback by publishing security bulletins on a regular basis or as required
Executing regular inspections and audits to ensure that the security programme is effective.
This audit shall include:
A document review;
A review of correct implementation of procedures;
A quality control check on one or two specific security measures in terms of the correct, effective and efficient execution of a critical task
Ensure that any corrective action resulting from above findings is both implemented
and effective.
Investigation of any reported misconduct, crime, threats or acts of unlawful interference against AFS, its staff and/or property, at home or abroad, in accordance with the relevant legislation by taking of witness statements etc. in conjunction with the relevant authorities. This will also apply to cases/incidents where failure of implementation of security measures has occurred
Arrange and co-ordinate employee locker inspections
Arrange and co-ordinate polygraph tests when required
All responsibilities must be carried out in accordance with Company Standards and Occupational Health and Safety Standards.
Will assist with additional tasks within the context of the job description.
