The incumbent is required to ensure a safe and secure work environment
by providing protection for personnel, assets and property . Development
of security risks, emergency plans and compliance to national acts
such as the National Key Point Act and other regulations. This includes
responsibility for the physical security at all sites, information
security, the prevention of industrial espionage, security
investigations and crime prevention.
Develop security policies, strategies, procedures and standards
Manage Security Department, including budget
Ensure physical security at all sites including access control and CCTV monitoring
Manage security related contracts and monitor supplier performance as stipulated in service
level agreement / contracts
Contribute and participate in emergency planning activities
Conduct risk assessments, threat and investigation analysis and mitigate risks
Maintain database of security breaches
Ensure compliance to all relevant legislation and any other regulatory requirements including
NKP Act and MISS set by NIA
Co-ordinate JPC meetings
Co-ordinate and manage security clearance applications
Conduct security awareness training to staff, tenants and contractors
Qualifications, skills and experience:
Degree or 3 year National Diploma in Security Management
Possession of a TOP Security Clearance is recommended
Other job attributes:
Minimum of 5 years' experience in a security management position
Ability to liaise and interact with CSIR top management, SANDF, SAPS, NIA and other
government security agencies.
Should possess contract management experience
Working knowledge of security legislation, regulations, directives and standards;
Expert knowledge of and experience in security investigations; vetting and intelligence.
Knowledge of policy formulation and implementation, organising and communication
Competence in training and presentation programmes for security awareness sessions to
management, employees and other stakeholders
Computer literacy and valid driver's license
Must have financial background and the understanding of budgeting
