Vacancy: Investigator (Dog Handler) - G4S Secure Solutions SA
G4S Secure Solutions (SA), a leading global integrated security solutions company, has a vacancy for an Investigator (professional Dog Handler) based in Port Nolloth.
Reporting to the General Manager, the successful incumbent is a self-starter with a proven track record in maintaining company policy, adopting best practices, and is able to exercise sound judgement in the pursuit of the achievement of the goals of the organisation, and understanding the role that investigations play within a successful business unit and on client contracts. The incumbent will be expected to be results driven and to live the values of the organisation.
Role Responsibility:
Main Purpose of Position:
The Investigator provides ad hoc investigation services and sniffer dog narcotics and explosive searches to the respective mining vessels of the customer, in compliance with legislation, company policies and procedures.
Key Performance Areas:
1. Effective management of investigations on a contract in compliance with legislation and G4S policy
Ensure that all incidents / allegations of criminal activity involving G4S customers and employees are investigated.
Ensure that all accidents resulting in injury, damage or loss involving G4S employees are investigated.
Ensure that a case docket is created for each investigation, recording all relevant information, witnesses and securing evidence required for a criminal prosecution, disciplinary process or liability claim.
Implement and maintain effective management of case dockets, ensuring that appropriate processes and actions are initiated, finalized and recorded.
Identify and recruit informers, to ensure effective information gathering within the region regarding criminal activity impacting on G4S customers.
2. Effective sniffer dog narcotics and explosive searches to the respective mining vessels
Conduct regular inspection visits (after hours included) and compile regular risk assessments for all vulnerable areas to identify and eliminate narcotic, explosive and drug substance threats.
Personally ensure feeding, grooming of sniffer dogs including cleaning of kennels and exercise areas.
Compile work sheet and Inspection reports of all cargo received, checked and cleared of any drugs and explosives.
Regular refreshment training of the Narcotic and Explosive dogs with drugs and explosive substance.
3. Ensure effective liaison with SAPS structures in the region
Establish and maintain effective communication with local SAPS structures.
Provide appropriate assistance to SAPS officials to ensure criminal prosecution of cases investigated on behalf of G4S customers.
The Ideal Candidate:
Requirements:
Minimum qualifications
Grade 12 or equivalent and / or with relevant tertiary qualification
Driver’s License (maintain own and / or company site vehicle (if and when allocated)
PSIRA Grade B accreditation
Registered Security Service Provider
Minimum 5 years’ experience in investigations and / or narcotics (advantageous)
Ability to work after hours
Training requirements and accréditations
South African Police Patrol Dog course
South African Police Explosive Dog Course
Brave Heart DH1 – DH 5 (Dog Handler course for sniffer dogs)
