Job Description
Ensure the alignment of protection services to university business strategies and objectives.
Implement strategic objectives to minimise and eliminate security threats.
Direct and manage the operations of the unit.
Formulate strategies that would promote optimal utilisation of staffing resources.
Co-ordinate and collect budget requirements and oversee the budget expenditure on all campuses on protective services matters.
Communicate effectively with all stakeholders with regards to protection services through various mediums. Prepare and present formal and informal security briefings to members of the University and local community.
Ensure that access control policies and procedures are implemented and maintained.
Identify and mitigate security related risks at all levels.
Conduct research and manage the selection of the most appropriate, cost effective security technology.
Plan, organise and ensure the effective and efficient establishment and deployment of emergency services rendered by the unit on all campuses.
Ensure physical security measures (fences, gates, street lights, burglar proofing) are serviceable, reliable and to report any defects.
Ensure that the necessary documents are completed with regards to a specific incident.
Direct allocated functions from the disaster management plan to ensure immediate response to relevant disasters.
Co-ordinate with internal and external stakeholders an incident response and management plan of catastrophic incidences.
Plan, organise, direct and control proper traffic management systems in line with traffic and parking management policies and procedures.
Manage the university’s liquor licenses including temporary liquor license process for all events hosted on university premises.
Ensure effective communication with SAPS and all state agencies to ensure continuous feedback on cases reported.
Maintain effective Control Rooms on all campuses to provide 24/7 service to campus community.
Develop and manage service level agreements between protection services and relevant stakeholders including overseeing outsource security services.
Qualifications
BTech (Security Risk Management) or relevant equivalent.
PSIRA Grade A certificate.
Firearm competency certificate.
Must have experience in managing an Electronic Room, CCTV, Digital security systems, Biometric system and come from a the private and/or commercial not government.
Must have 5 years exp. In Senior management role, 2 years exp. Middle management
