Summary:
American K-9 Detection Services, LLC has been awarded contracts and is currently hiring
experienced
Narcotics and Explosives Single and Dual Purpose K9 Handlers for
deployment overseas. These deployments are for up to one year in
duration and may have an option for further commitment beyond initial
deployment. These projects offer a competitive pay and compensation
package. This is an immediate opening with training and deployments
occurring over the next several weeks.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Handlers are responsible to the FOB (Forward Operating Base) Kennel Master in all but not limited to the following duties:
Conduct daily kennel care for their assigned contract working dog (CWD)
or conduct kennel care as directed by the FOB Trainer. This includes
maintaining assigned CWD’s diet. Substantial weight loss or gains should
be noticed immediately and reported to FOB Trainer.
Conduct daily health checks/grooming on assigned CWD. Report any discrepancies or irregularities to the FOB Trainer.
Adhere to the daily duty roster and or training schedule, in the proper uniform and on time.
Conduct periodic checks on assigned CWD (2-3 hours) to ensure K-9 has
adequate water. Report any irregularities or safety issues to the FOB
trainer.
Strictly adhere to AMK9 Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) while working post.
Understand and comply with FOB post instructions.
Properly maintain assigned K-9 equipment. Conduct periodic inspections
to ensure equipment is safe and in good working condition.
Thoroughly know, apply and report response procedures. Document ALL K-9
responses that occur while working post. Immediately report to KM,
generate necessary documentation.
Document training records daily.
Ensure optimum patrol training schedule and required detector dog
training hours are met on a weekly basis.
Utilize your assigned
canine as directed by the Kennel Master or his designee in support of US
Military operations. Utilization will consist of Entry Point,
Perimeter, and internal FOB checks.
Other duties may be assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Must have a minimum of 2 years recent experience as a K-9 handler.
Military and/or Law Enforcement experience preferred.
Must have appropriate inoculations for international travel.
Must have valid passport or ability to obtain.
Must have ability to pass background check – must not have any violent crime felonies, spouse or child abuse convictions.
Must be able to provide personal and professional references.
Secret security clearance level and above preferred but not required.
Successful candidates must be able to deploy at short notice
