Detailed Description


The successful candidate will be responsible for the following key performance areas:
· Manage the facilities protection function in the Durban Branch.
· Implement applicable policies and procedures.
· Provide administrative support to the Senior Team Leader: Security Management.
· Manage the performance of team members.
· Conduct workplace assessments.
· Manage the firearms of personnel who work shifts.
Job Requirements


To be considered for this position, candidates must:
· be in possession of a Matric (Grade 12) certificate as well as a certificate in Security Management or an equivalent qualification; and
· have five to eight years’ experience in the security field, of which one to two years should be in a supervisory capacity.
Additional requirements are as follows:
· sound knowledge of the National Key Points Act 102 of 1980, directive security standards and systems, and relevant legislation;
· the ability to manage a work group on a sound business and security footing, and lead and direct a work team in carrying out prescribed duties;
· physically fit; professional, disciplined and presentable;
· knowledge of performance management;
· the ability to use initiative, and function effectively and calmly in an emergency situation;
· proficient in English (written and verbal);
· proficient in the Microsoft Office suite (including Outlook);
· the ability to be constantly vigilant, alert and resourceful; and
· able to work shifts.
Further requirements are as follows:
· advanced security management training and experience;
· National Key Point training;
· management training and supervisory skills;
· performance management training and experience;
· exposure to physical and tactical training;
· South African Qualifications Authority assessor training;
· competence in the handling of firearms (e.g. 9 mm pistol, semi-automatic rifle and shotgun);
· protocol and etiquette training;
· experience in operating the Main Security Control Room;
· a positive security clearance; and
· a valid code 8 driver’s licence.
